Two Happy Hearts and a Green Thumb
From our house, the road to happiness passes three shopping centers where we buy groceries and enters the Promised Land, where our destiny lies.
"I'll feed the chickens and water the plants," George announces.
"Okay, I'll check the grapevines and the orchard," I reply.
It feels like we're far from home. But surprisingly we've traveled only three miles to the garden center we purchased last fall.
Back then, the nearly 4-acre property was severely overgrown and the late 19th century buildings were dilapidated. Still, something about the place made our hearts happy.
And so the journey began.
Now, the trees have been pruned and fertilized and a couple of the buildings have been updated. And George has used his green thumb to plant and nurture a variety of organic seeds, helping each grow into its greatest potential as food and medicine. Over the next several months, we will continue to cooperate with Nature to create year round gardens for the community. We can't wait for you to be able to join us to pick berries, grapes, figs, and herbs; discover delightful ways to nourish your body; and immerse yourself in a natural setting that inspires wellness. Of course, Nature moves at its own pace and teaches us many lessons. So while we wait, hope, and learn, we will keep you posted on the Center's (and our) progress.
